Inspiring Young Performers Since 2005
Act Too Arts Academy is a long‑established performing arts school dedicated to developing confident, skilled and expressive young performers. Founded in 2005 by theatre director Lance Milton, the Academy grew from the Act Too Group theatre company, which had been producing high‑quality community theatre across Sussex since the mid‑1990s. Today, Act Too continues that legacy with a clear mission: to provide exceptional training in Acting, Singing and Dance within a supportive, family‑centred environment.
Our Philosophy
We believe every young person deserves the chance to discover their voice, build confidence and experience the joy of performance. Our training is grounded in professional technique but delivered with warmth, encouragement and a genuine passion for helping students grow. Whether a student dreams of a career on stage or simply wants to build confidence and creativity, we meet them where they are and help them thrive.
What We Offer
Students at Act Too receive a balanced, high‑quality performing arts education through three weekly sessions in:
- Acting – character, voice, improvisation and stagecraft
- Singing – vocal technique, harmony, musicality and performance
- Dance – strength, technique, choreography and musical theatre styles
Our structured rotation system ensures every student receives focused, specialist training in each discipline every week.
A True Performance Academy
Performance is at the heart of what we do. Students take part in:
- A full‑scale annual production
- Regular showcases throughout the year
- A summer musical workshop
- In‑class performance projects and assessments
These opportunities give students real experience, real confidence and real memories.
A Supportive, Family‑Run Environment
Act Too has always been proudly family‑run, and that spirit shapes everything we do. We know our students, we celebrate their achievements, and we create a space where they feel safe, valued and inspired. Many of our students stay with us for years — some from childhood through to young adulthood — because they feel part of something special.
For Every Young Performer
We welcome students from all backgrounds, including those who are home‑educated, those seeking additional creative outlets, and those preparing for auditions or further training. Our classes are grouped by age and ability, ensuring every student is challenged appropriately and supported fully.
Our Commitment
For over two decades, Act Too has been committed to:
- High‑quality, professional performing arts training
- A nurturing, inclusive and encouraging atmosphere
- Real performance opportunities
- Building confidence, creativity and resilience in young people
We are proud of the performers – and the people – our students become.
